I have no words…Wicked Ways is just Hot, Hot, HOT!!!! I can’t even gush, I’m still fanning myself! Shew! LOVED it!!! Highly, HIGHLY recommend! I feel like I’m just repeating myself…

Ok, so Cain is…Spectacular, awesome, fantastic…all of the above? He is a great character, and I absolutely ADORE cat shifters. It doesn’t get any better than that for me. He is everything a cat shifter should be! Hot, Fierce, loyal, and did I mention hot? Right, back to what I was saying, living out on the boondocks is starting to look better and better!

Then we have Miranda, I sort of pictured her as a mousy kindergarten teacher with a kind voice, and a tiny fragile appearance, but boy, the girl can be fierce!

There’s a scene where she slaps Cain in hopes of getting the vampires attention, and man did she rock it! She starts out slow in the beginning with the ‘vampires aren’t real’ hyperventilating and full on melt down, but she quickly earns your attention once she goes up against Cain and his temper tantrum.

Those two are absolutely perfect for each other…they have better chemistry than any character I’ve seen so far! I seriously wish this story wasn’t a novella, I believe those two could’ve gone a lot further than the story allowed. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for them in future installments.

Highly recommend! I think I said that already…

My Wicked Little Lies, by Victoria Alexander. (review)

Book number 2 on my review list this month, and a great pick.


So, I’m starting to get a little burned out of the historical romances, which means I will soon be switching back to the paranormal romances.
Meanwhile I just finished reading ‘My Wicked Little Lies’ and it was pretty good. I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5 simply because while it was enjoyable, there were a few slow moments, where I wanted to skip parts. For the most part, the plot was fantastic, there was a lot going on to grab the attention, but a couple times it moved a little slow.



I really liked reading this story though and I wouldn’t mind reading it again, and while I got this book free, I would not regret having paid for it. The characters were believable, the plot unique, and unlike anything I’ve read before.



It was a pleasant change to the cliché normally created in a historical romance. I especially liked the way Evie played such a large part of the story, and not just in the ballroom, but on the ‘battle field’ as well. I know that is hard to do given the time period, and I am impressed. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the story! Definitely recommended!


The ending was a huge shock…I wasn’t really prepared for it, so that’s good- and I loved the secondary romance that went along side by side with the main plot. My favorite part would have been the Rouse section however as I really love a little revenge in romances, particularly when you know the characters will end up together regardless.


Over all, it’s one of the better romances I’ve read lately, and I look forward for more from this author.

Forbidden Love, By Terry Spear. (Review)

Here we are again, with another of one of Ms. Spear’s fantastic books.

To be honest I enjoyed this one far more than the Western/Time travel, not because it was any better written, or more enjoyable, but because it is a little closer to what I usually read. I love this kind of story!


It seems as though I can never get enough!


This one was a little bit different than most vampire books. *No, the vampire did not sparkle* In this story, we have the star-crossed lovers, literally kept apart through out her many lifetimes. A true Romeo and Juliet story, with a whole new spin!


I must confess, I’ve never particularly liked Romeo and Juliet, I can’t read something that doesn’t have a happy ending. I crave romance, with a good outcome.


Elizabeth MacLeod was brave, albeit foolish in her time, to have chosen her love over family. She embraced it, yearned for it, and sought to escape the domination of her family, only to die at their hands.


Alena MacLeod is the very epitome of femininity; she’s strong, shapely, determined, and brave. Everything a woman should be! Through centuries she has been kept from her true love, driven apart by circumstances, and even fatality at the hands of her very own blood. In the beginning she doesn’t remember him, but she recognizes something in him, something she doesn’t understand.


He’s a marked man, and she’s his assassin!


As far as Huntress’s go, Alena has always been his natural enemy, but Sutton, A.K.A Ephraim fell in love with her long ago, before things like the Legion, and the Brotherhood ever existed, when they were just man and woman. She’s carried his child, risked her family’s ire, and everything she holds dear to be with him, and he's loved her through centuries, doing everything he can conceive to get her back.


Repeated attempts fail, but when the Legion, (Hunters, and Huntress’s fated to kill the rogue vampires) find that he has something that could destroy them all, they do the very thing that goes against their every law. They send the one person he can’t possibly hope to defend himself against; his Elizabeth reincarnated, in the form of her Great Granddaughter, Alena MacLeod! They resemblance is unmistakable, the memories are overwhelming, and it is she! His long lost love at last, sent to kill him and destroy that which the Legion finds threatening. The Legion aren’t the only one’s stirring trouble, a new band of vampires, better known as the Brotherhood want equality, and they're willing to do anything to get it, even if it means wiping out those who try and stop them. Especially if it means killing the Legion.


Alena and Ephraim must battle against everything and everyone they know and love once more, not only for their love, but for their very survival!

I was a little surprised at who the bad guys turned out to be, and who the good guys were. Particular one named Kisaro, who you want to hate, I mean he’s done every despicable thing you can imagine in this story, and yet it’s all in the name of Love! Love for whom you might ask? Well you’ll have to read to find out!


I love this concept! It’s just complicated enough to keep you interested, while at the same time revealing just a few secrets each chapter to make you yearn for more. I mean- Who DOESN"T love a sexy highlander fighting for your love? It’s impossible to stop reading this once you start, so clear some time on your schedule for this one!

So I just finished “Just Like Heaven’ by Julia Quinn, and I’ve got to say as far as historical romances go, this one was pretty good. I’d give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, not because there was anything wrong with it, just because there wasn’t a whole lot happening. I loved her introductory summary, but as far as excitement, it was just a little lacking. Don’t get me wrong, the book was amazing, and I loved it, and would definitely read it again, but in comparison to other novels I’ve read, some by her, some not, it just didn’t have as much drama that most romances thrive on.


Over all, the story was well developed, well detailed, and beautifully written. I loved the main character’s (Honoria) humor, and her sense of family, and tradition. The author really did a great job pairing her hero and heroine in this book, and as far as the drama that DID occur, it was really nerve wracking to see whether or not the hero A.K.A Marcus would pull through. The ending in particular was great, I loved how she introduced Honoria’s brother, Daniel, though he was mentioned throughout the story, it was a pleasure to finally meet the man that mattered so much to the main characters, and I have to admit, I’m kinda interested to know if he is going to have his own story, because I would certainly buy it.

*If I had to pick a favorite part, I would have to say that watching Honoria dig a hole for her fake fall would have been the best, it was hilarious, and the fact that Marcus, her ‘guardian’ saw it all just added to the humor. Her attempt to be calculating DID kinda fall back on her, but it was amusing none the less.


*Loved the red shoe bit as well*


I highly recommended this story, an all-around great read, despite the lesser drama.

Must Love Vampires, by Heidi Betts

So I haven’t had a lot of down time lately to finish my book reviews and of course their stacking up, which isn’t completely unusual, but I finally got around to finishing Must Love Vampires, which was on the top of my list,  and I gotta say, as far as a fast paced read, it’s pretty good.

I typically like books that take longer to finish, as I like the extreme details, and complicated plots, but I knew I wasn’t going to have a whole lot of time to finish this one, so I chose Must Love Vampire, because it has two short stories in it.

One, Vampnapped is about a woman whose bored making up stories for a conspiracy newspaper, and decides to delve into one she thinks will be more truthful, based on her sister’s boss, whom she believes to be a night-walking, blood-sucking, vampire.

What she finds is a more truth and honesty than she bargained for, as well as a whole lot more she could have never expected.

Of course, being that this is a paranormal romance, we all suspect her assumptions to be true, which is a little why I don’t usually get into these types of books, as I’ve mentioned before in earlier reviews. They are usually a little short on detail as they've got a limited amount of space, and the plot is slightly rushed, again, because of a limited amount of space. HOWEVER, this was a nice quick, fun read, very juicy at some points, and conclusive as well.

I would like to see this expanded into a full length novel, both books as maybe a series instead of packed into one title, but none the less I enjoyed the read.

The second story is called Married with Fangs, and it’s about said sister, who works in a casino as a dancer, who’s had the fortune of finding herself in a whirl wind relationship with the wealthy brother of her boss.

Thinking to finally find her son a father, and a husband for herself, so that she may retire from her hip-thrusting, high-kicking routine, she’s agreed to her sister’s outrageous schemes, and decides to marry the man of her dreams on the sly, in a little chapel, unbeknownst to both their families.

As I mentioned, I could have done with a little more plot, maybe a little intrigue or mystery, but overall, I enjoyed the story, and it had me smiling, and even laughing in several places.

I loved the ending, as it included both stories intertwining, with a lot more detail. Much more like the full length novel I’m used to. Definitely going on the keeper shelf, so be sure and check it out.  It’s everything you want and expect in a vampire story. 

Wed or Dead. By Cynthia Eden, Novella review, Pt.2 (Howl For It)

Just finished the second story in “Howl For It” called, ‘Wed or Dead’ by Cynthia Eden, about a Hunter, who somehow falls in love with her prey.

As I suspected, this story was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!  “Howl For It” is really making me want to reconsider my novella policy. As I stated before, I typically don’t read books with more than one story in them, because I usually find them lacking in details, and quality. I don’t like to feel rushed when I’m enjoying a good story, but with this one, rather than feeling as though you are being shoved at warp speed through the set-up, you are dropped dead center into the action, with just enough back story to keep you interested, while simultaneously giving you ample time to fall in love.

I liked the first story by Shelly Laurenston, which was called ‘Like a wolf without a bone’, but I LOVED ‘Wed or Dead’ by Cynthia Eden.

This being my first story by Cynthia Eden, I wasn’t really sure what to expect,  but again, I am so, so, SO glad I gave this book a chance, as it’s definitely going on the keeper shelf.

In this story, we have the female lead, Kayla, a bad-ass; take charge, paranormal butt-kicking human, whose fate led her to a small chapel in Sin City, where she’s married male lead, wolf shifter, and all around good-guy Gage.

Apart, they have their secrets, prey and predator, a kill or be killed type of story that leaves you wondering, just how they managed to fall in love to begin with. But together, they are a love so strong that even family ties cannot keep them apart. They perfectly balance each other in ways; I’ve yet to see in a similar setting.

I love Kayla’s ‘Oh hell-no’ attitude, as well as Gage’s ‘Touch her and die’ stance; to me, they are the perfect couple, matched in both wits, and strength, though completely different in race.

I highly recommend this book, to anyone who likes fast, action packed drama, with a little love, blood, and lust thrown in for good measure. I’d consider this a paranormal romance, but true to my love of detailed plots, I gotta say, I would love to see ‘Wed or Dead’ as a full length novel, or even a sequel would be awesome!

Cynthia Eden has for sure made it on to my authors to watch for list, so expect more reviews from her books in the future, as I intend to hunt those down as well.

Demon Hunting in the Deep South, Lexi George, Review.

Ok, I’m extremely late with this review, and I apologize, but I had a lot of family stuff going on, and I’ve just now, finally gotten time to finish it.

I have been working on getting this book read for almost 3 weeks now, since it first arrived in the mail, and I decided to take a day to finish it.

First, I’ve got to say, I loved it! But then, I knew I would, I have gotten pretty good at choosing books over the last couple months, and I, being somewhat of a southerner, knew this sort of thing would be right up my alley.

Demon Hunting in the Deep South, is about a girl who, like me, has body issues, and is very self-conscious, she doesn’t believe in herself, and yet she has so much power, that she isn’t even aware. Something traumatic has happened to her, and in her best interest, the love of her life, took her memories, a huge mistake as we later find, because Evie (Evangeline) is a force to be reckoned with.

This is perhaps one of the best love stories I’ve read in awhile, and I’ve read a lot of romances, so that’s something. I loved Ansgar, and his brother Brand and of course, Addy, and Nicole, the other characters in the story, and then there’s Muddy, Shep, and Lenora…so really, I loved everyone…alright, I’m drooling, sorry. But I really did love this book, and I wish I hadn’t taken so long to read it. Lexi George has definitely made a spot for herself on the list of authors I look for.

That being said, I highly recommend this book, to others like me, who love romance, and of course a good murder mystery. I did have a moment, when I thought maybe the dialogue was a bit immature, some of the words supposedly used by southerners, not as known as I’d like them to be, but overall, it was fantastic. I look forward to more from this author, and especially any in this series. Happy Reading. 

Blood Secret, By Sharon Page. - Review

So, I have Blood Secret, by Sharon Page for review today, a historical paranormal romance.

Now as you read this, keep in mind that I love Historical romances, as well as paranormal ones, so to have those two genres TOGETHER is very nearly a perfect book for me.

This book is a bit steamier than I’m used to of late, but considering there is a WARNING on the back, that’s to be expected….and anticipated? Yes, I had that in mind when I asked for this one.

We start out with Lucy Drake; her brother has managed to get himself into pretty deep trouble, the least of which may be his gambling debt to a certain Duke of Greystone.

Irate, Lucy knows someone must pay her siblings debt, but without money, she offers the one thing she has left to her- her virginity; in order to save her family.

But Lucy has a secret, and she isn’t the only one.

The Duke of Greystone is a man on a mission, he’s intentionally allowed Lucy’s brother to stay in his debt, but only because he believes he may have knowledge of his nephews ware bouts. But the Duke isn’t only out to find his missing nephew, he has another mission as well; one that could mean the end of Lucy.

I abhor spoilers, and try not to give them away too often, so I’m not going to give away any now, but I loved the way Sharon Page seems to bring the book to life through beautiful descriptions, and realistic thoughts/speech.

I enjoyed ‘Blood Secret’ and I’m not sure if it’s because I wasn’t very interested in the last two books I reviewed, or if it was truly a great book. Either way, ‘Blood Secret’ is a keeper, and it’s staying on my shelves for a long while. I hope you check out, and enjoy it as much as I did. –Be on the lookout for more from Sharon Page.
